Things to Do on Nusa Lembongan
Nusa Lembongan is a small island off the south-east coast of Bali, known for its clear water, slow pace and dramatic coastline. It is compact enough to explore in a few days, yet full of natural landmarks worth seeking out. This guide covers the experiences guests of Villa Kingfisher most often ask about.
Devil’s Tear
On the rocky headland beside Dream Beach, the sea surges into a series of natural blowholes and channels, sending spray high into the air. It is one of the island’s most photographed spots and is especially atmospheric in the late afternoon as the light softens.
The Yellow Bridge and Nusa Ceningan
A narrow suspension bridge links Nusa Lembongan to its smaller neighbour, Nusa Ceningan. Crossing on foot or by scooter brings you to the Blue Lagoon, a vivid turquoise inlet framed by cliffs, along with quiet viewpoints and coastal walks.
The Mangrove Forest
At the northern tip of the island, a mangrove forest is threaded with calm, shaded channels. Local boatmen and kayak guides lead unhurried trips through the waterways, a gentle contrast to the open coast.
Snorkelling and Diving
The waters around Nusa Lembongan are known for healthy coral and tropical fish, and the wider area is a well-known destination for divers. Boat trips to nearby snorkelling and dive sites are easily arranged on the island.
Seaweed Farms
Traditional seaweed farming has long been part of life here. At low tide, the neat underwater plots are visible along parts of the Lembongan and Ceningan shoreline — a glimpse of the island’s working culture.
Surfing
Several reef breaks lie off Jungut Batu Beach, suited to intermediate and experienced surfers. Conditions vary with the swell and tide, and local operators can advise on the day.
Exploring at Your Own Pace
Much of the island’s charm is in its quiet back lanes, small temples and clifftop viewpoints. Many guests explore on foot or by bicycle, stopping wherever the view invites it.
Villa Kingfisher is a private ocean-cliff estate on Jungut Batu Beach, Nusa Lembongan. A dedicated villa manager and local host can help arrange any of the experiences above. Reserve your stay or explore The Island.
